Help me im in court tommorrow and very scared!

If anyone could help me I would be most greatful,
I have to appear in court tommorrow as a witness the story is my ex partner is a nutcase and beat me and my 6 year old daughter on a regular basis, we had no one to turn to and eventually managed to break free and flee to a refuge. Now a year on the trial starts tommorrow, he is charged with abh on me and my daughter battery x2 on me and perverting the course of justice. I am so terrified of being in court near him and he has gone not guilty on all charges so it is now being herd at crown court with a full jury. I dont know why he has gone not guilty when there is medical evidence to prove my injuries I really dont understand why he is putting me through all this. He has horrendous previous for battery burglary common assalt gbh abh assault on a police officer possesion of drugs and weapons avaiding arrest driving without due care leaving the scence of an accident and so on.
If he is found guilty how long is he likely to get in prison if he goes? Me and my daughter need to move on with our lives without him being a threat anymore, any words of advice or support would be most greatfully recieved.

Well to cap it all off the case never got herd today! Because the court was so busy and there was too many cases in court to be herd today mine was shifted to the reserve list for all of this week! So now I have no idea as to what day it will be herd the court will just phone me and tell me to come in the next day!
It just feels like this is going to drag on forever its making me ill already and the stress of not knowing what is happening is unbearable!

bloody typical! stay strong, he'll get his later this week.

I meant to say, don't expect him to be sentenced on the same day he is found guilty, it doesn't usually work like that. once you've given your evidence you don't need to attend court again but someone should inform you of the sentence. personally, I'd go and look at his miserable face :o)

OMG -i know how you feel -you get yourself all tensed up and then this happens.

Cruddy thing is its the nomark junkie drunks who get taken from the weekend custody suite who are given precedence over this.

Stay strong -maybe even the experience of today has lessened your anxiety to a degree -in as much as you couldnt feel any worse than you did last night.

Pinkie i was a volunteer working for witness support!, have you spoken to victim support before this court case ?we work along side each other, ring tomorrow both agencys they are fantastic, witness support will be with you at every opportunity just ask!!!!thinking of youx

Hey everyone you are all being so fantastic to me over this really boosing my lowered morale and giving me the strength to fight!
I have victim support and witness supports full support over this they are meeting me at a safe house close to court where I will be kept locked in untill he is in the dock they have also arranged for me to be screened off from him so I cant see him. If he is found guilty I will be going to that just so that I can look him in the eye once and for all and then start the healing and moving on procces. I believe its about 3 weeks from the end of the trial (thank you for pointing that out sara I asked witness support earlier cos I just assumed he would be sentenced the same day). Well I am all psyched up and ready to go another day tomorrow so fingers crossed and thank you all for your help and guidance! x x

The court has just called and the case is not on the list for tommorrow either! Cant help feeling this will never be over now its getting beyond a joke! If it does not start on Thursday then it will probably be posponed for a few more weeks! Thats means it will be in the summer holidays and I will have no childcare!!

What abummer AGAIN. You get yourself all skrewed up to get it over and done with and then the huge anti-climax when it is postponed.
I dont who would have most influence with the court in getting it bumped up the list, maybe ask through victim support and the CPS. Explain your difficulties with child care arrangements to see if any help is available. I dont know if anything is, but for sure you dont get if you dont ask.

Good god! Looks like its now gonna be a total re scedule! Its a 3 day trial and as it wont be in this week it looks like they are going to have to set another date! maybe 4-6 weeks! Just when I thought it really would not get any worse! Witness care are going to call me tommorrow and try and help me in any way they can they are really good I recommend them to anyone who is in my situation.

I guess you have to try and forget about it for now although obviously that is hard. Just focus on your daughter and remember this scum will get his comeuppance eventually. It will be worse for him having to wait too! Take carexxx

Hi Pinkbunny, sorry to hear about this delay. It must be a real pain for you. Try to put to the back of your mind for a while - I know thats not easy. Hopefully you may be able to get through the school holidays before it is rescheduled.
Its so annoying when the innocent person gets messed about like this, and poor you have it hanging over you. Thinking of you - keep us posted with any news. Good luck.

Hope the 'powers' have got this man under arrest so he cant get near you or ur daughter...............maybe you could insist on this for both your welfare?

No he is not on remand at the moment but strict bail conditions keep him out of the village we live in, prevent him from contacting us directly or indirectly, threatening us or just baeing anywhere near us in general. Any breach of this results in him going straight on remand. I have a panic system fitted which the police respond to very quickly if I press the button, so I feel quite safe at the moment. Its just a waiting game now I suppose but it aint half stressful! I just hope justice is done in the end!! Fingers crosed this evil ******* needs locking up and some serious mental help!!

thank you drisgirl I am taking huge support from you all at this terrible time in my life but I must remember that I am free I can sit here and type this to you something I could never have done a year ago! Thank you all soooo much from the bottom of my heart you are keeping me strong and giving me faith when the world seems to be against me in regards to the court. I felt like jacking it all in earlier and saying sod it. I didnt think I could cope another 6 weeks in this state of mind but I am going to have to go to the doctor tommorrow see if I can get some help sleeping cos every time I shut my eyes I suffer terrible flashbacks at the moment. I hate him for making me this weak but soon I will be the string one when he is someones b*t*h in prison!

New court date just been set today for october!!! Gotta go through all those emotions again but my baby laughed for the first time this week!! Amazing sound considering everything she has been through just to be here. So good things come with the bad I suppose!
