How can we stop malicious lies by defendant?
4 Answers
Hi, I recently asked a question on here regarding my oh being attacked (thank you to all who answered) well as we are awaiting court proceedings, oh has heard that the attacker is spreading rumours that oh was 'hassling' him for weeks before the attack - there is absolutely no truth in this, we barely knew him and obviously his brother wouldn't have invited us to his party if oh had been nasty to him. I am so annoyed about this and wondered whether the nasty worm will be able to tell such lies in court, also can we report this to the police?
Thanks in advance x

So, if it is stated, there will be dates/times your oh will be asked about. Where he was at the time/date the attacker said he was being harrassed by him.
I wouldn't worry about it.
If you or your oh is being intimidated by the defendant then do go to the police.
Witness intimidation is serious.
Other than that, do not say anything to anyone now about the case.
Basically trust no one other than yourselves.

Thank you for your advice Luxury x tbh I don't think that attacker actually stated this when interviewed by police (at least, they never mentioned it) I think it is an afterthought as he lives quite nearby (2 miles) - a sort of excuse as people are disgusted that he could hide behind a parked car, call oh over and then smash him over the head with a brick. I know it is untrue but it is quite distressing for oh as he doesn't know who will believe this nasty piece of work.
