I am just getting a parcel ready to send to my friend who is currently on a tour in Afghan he has been out there a week already and I have promised to write to him on a regular basis.
But what should I send him? We have been very good friends for 10 years and I know i cant send him booze or porn but what does a soldier need? I just cant imagine how he is feeling right now and I want to send him useful things as he has nothing over there.
Any suggestions greatly recieved we need to keep supporting our boys and girls out there.

Funnily enough, I think they quite like babywipes...seriously. Sometijmes it's hard for them to get to proper washing facilities......maybe better check with someone else first, though.
Any kind of toiletries would probably go down well, though, I'd guess.

Brilliant idea I have stacks of them as I have a baby and I use them to take my make up off with. I have checked what i cant send and thats booze porn bulk religious material and items with pork in. But its so hard to think of what I would want out in the desert? So far then I have baby wipes some musli bars tooth brush and paste pens paper sachets of hot chocolate as you dont need to add anyhting to them except hot water and chewing gum!

obviously I didnt mean you would add the chewing gum to the hot chocolate lol. I though hot chocolate would also be good as the desert is freezing at night times.
Question Author
yep brilliant babywipes are in and some chocolate as you can send that now its not the summer. As for the porn mag cant do that im afraid if he got caught with it he would be in serious trouble!
Im just so worried for his safety its hard to think what he could need! It is really putting my life into perspective thinking about this!
I have typed this one so m,uch lately, but yes you can send them booze, send them a miniature whiskey or brandy inside the tube of some vemver soft toilet roll. They will love the surprise and be grateful for the comfortable loo paper
some lottery tickets?
a good book?
pack of cards or puzzles?
Question Author
Ahh yes toilet roll see I just dont think of things like that we take all that for granted. I am sorry if I am repeating recent posts but thanks for all your suggestions. It is very much appreciated x

Dustinmyeye I am sure there must be a way to do it, I am just doing this for my friend as we have been close for years but he is sending me details of some of the guys and girls who dont recieve parcels and letters for whatever reasons and I have got a group of people ready to support them out there. No ties they just send regular letters and bits and pieces to show their support and so they feel like they are making a little diference. I fel strongly about this as I grew up in a services family and my Dad used to go on tours for months at a time and its hard for them out there and they must be so gratful for anything they recieve. The stories a soldier can tell you is heartbreaking so any help no matter how big or small goes along way x
If you send a box do you have to put who it's from or is it anonymous..
Question Author
You have to send it to a specific soldier now I think but it does not have to say who it is from I dont put a senders address on mine.
