Thanks- My husband and I were attacked by two couples who were outside a pub(we later found out they had been asked to leave). The two men attacked my husband and the two females and a male attacked me.Someone came out and saw what was happening ,and got the pub to call the police. At this point many people had come out of the pub and become involved. We managed to get away from the scene and stop a passing police car to explain what had happened, and they took me to hospital due to the nature of my injuries. The next morning , a different officer called, and his exact words were, "I can see you were injured, there was another party taken to hospital, and another arrested. We know you were not responsible for the situation, you could complain but it seems to me it ended up a bit of a free for all, it's probably not worth it, lets just say the other party came off worse". Having never been in any situation like this we went along with the police officers reccomendations, thinking he obviously knows best, we were also still in shock. He said he would go and tell the other party of our intentions, and we would hear no more.5 weeks later a different officer rang my husbands mobile and told him we were to be arrested as the other party wanted to press charges, and named us as their attackers?? Bewildered we went the next day voluntarily to give statements. I took along a photo of my injuries and explained again what the original police officer had told us to do, and that I would like a counter complaint put in against those responsible. We were bailed pending further enquiries, when I spoke to the officer recently to get an update on the situation, he advised me he had not acted on my wishes to counter, (3 months has passed), now we are to answer bail and I have been informed that I will probably get a caution for public order offence, I feel we have been let down badly by the police and do not know what to do, any advice ?
