How can this be stopped?

I would really appreciate some help with this. I am aware that my brother's sister-in-law is driving illegally on what is probably a dodgy licence. As far as anyone is aware, she has never had a driving test, let alone passed one. She is driving her two kids, one of them disabled, every day to and from school on regular routes in a car that is believed to be a disability car and she has another car which she uses regularly also.

Now aside from the legal issues here, I am horrified to think that she is quite willing to risk it. Without a licence, she won't have insurance or Tax and she is risking her children's lives as well as her own and other drivers. I want this to stop but other than direct intervention from myself or another family member, I understand there is not a lot I can do. I have been told that the Police have been informed but the answer from them was "there's nothing we can do unless we routinely stop her for something else". It has also come to light that she may be using someone else's driving licence without their knowledge.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

how would the cops know such a report wasn't vindictive ?
Surely the mobility people check the driver has a licence because they don`t pay road tax on the car they are driving?

Tambo...they don't. So unless they are really really really really quiet, they don't check.
Your "brother's sister in law" ? Mmmhhhhhhhh. Don't know how good your information is, or where it came from, and why? This is very unusual.

The first thing I'd strongly advise you to do is to try to firm up your suspicions before doing anything which could impact adversely on this woman's life if it turns out to be a load of codswallop.

You say "I am aware that..........is driving illegally on what is probably a dodgy licence." You go on to use the expression "as far as anyone is aware."

So, 1) How are you "aware" that she is doing anything illegal when you continue with "as far as anyone is aware." ? You seem to contradict yourself.

2) Is there anyone within this family circle who can verify your suspicions?

3) At least try to find out, say, if her car's tax disc is expired. Easy to do by simply looking at it which will show the run out date. If expired, there is a fair chance of no insurance. Nowadays, Police Forces have access to databases which hold information on untaxed vehicles. A quick check of the registration number by them could answer that one.

Seems like a glorified family domestic at the root of all this, though?

My point entirely ..
Original poster is being judgemental really .. not me.
There is no proof ... yet that there is anything illegal going on at all.

Best bet if you really want to be sure is to ask DVLA, isn't it?
Otherwise .. it's all hearsay .. and you are getting people to suggest (some criminal) ways of acting on those assumptions, and 'nang' the person without proof.
Do the DVLA give that info though? I asked a similar question a while back...how to find out if someone has a license.
Well .. all that can be done really is to report.
Motability do not check licence status as they can lease a car to someone who has no licence at all. My sister got a car through the scheme and has never driven in her life, let alone had a licence. She leased the car with her hubby as her named driver.
i don't really understand how shopping your brother's sister in law is helping your brother?
She might drive his kids around..
I suppose she relies on her vehicle quite heavily though - with a disabled child to run around.. How would she manage if her car wash taken away and crushed?
Would that impact your brothers life MORE than her driving with no licence? Would she want HIM to help her more? Do her favours? run errands?

Tough call.. But I agree with your wanting to report her.. just beware the repercussions may be worse than the crime???
well then surely the sister of the brother who has a sister in law who is doing it shouldn't get involved - ie leave it to the brother if he is bothered?
True...
bednobs - you lost me there!!... who's sister??? ;-)
lol the OP is the sister - it's her brother who's sister in law is supposedly doing wrong.
It just seems a bit like "my bother's sister in laws hairdressers cat"
