What is the minimum sentence my ex partner is likely to receive
14 Answers
On a recent night out with friend i was seriously assaulted by my ex partner in my hotel room. I have been in formed he's being charged with wounding and that it's more serious as he used a weapon during the attack and left me with some pretty bad injuries. I was wondering how long his sentence was likely to be, and would also like to know if in the event of him pleading not guilty at the court hearing would i be called to give evidence or would the CSI photo's of my injuries and the scene of the assault suffice?

Hiya
Firstly im sorry to hear about this incident but a section 18 charge which is gbh wounding with intent comes in 3 catergories. The lowest being a minimum of 3-5 years if there is an absolutly clean record. Then the judge decides on sentencing to move up to middle range which is 5-7 years then max range i beleive on this charge is 7-9 years that would prob go onto the manslaughter charge then though. I hope this helps and i agree you need to get some kind of injuction. Also it makes a difference on how he pleads. IF he pleads guilty then they take a third off the sentence x

I wrote previously as my partner was up in court for section 18, i received notification from the police service who told me that it's not been dropped to section 47 ABH, (he claimed he has a drinking problem and blacked out not remebered breaking my nose or stamping on my face biting and strangling me, etc...) I just wondered what the possible outcome would be now?
Because he is saying he can't remember doing it they have probably came to a deal that if he pleads guilty they will charge him for the lesser charge of ABH. ABH with a weapon, the sentence rages from 2-4years. If he gets 2 years he could possibly get it suspended!!!!
Anyone here know if a 2 year sentence can be suspended?

I'm just back from the courts my ex was bailed again to appear again on the 22nd, no-one is telling me what is happening, i just want to know what to expect etc... I've not ever been in a situation like this and i'm a little lost. I thought it was a plea hearing but it seems that it wasn't the case. I'm rather confused. Am i going to have to attend court?
