oh helen that must be tough to deal with.
I've been left a wooden cabinet full of filthy silver cutlery I'll never use but it's still nice to have, a lot of chunky rings I'll never wear and a pendulum clock that looks nice on the wall but doesn't work.

oh redhelen, would you have liked a momento or anything.did you sister or father not give you anything.
A silver St. Christopher my Dad wore for 40 years that I now wear...

Some china vases by a great aunt (I am about the least vase like person you could meet!) They are hideous but apparently quite valuable and seeing as my mother liked one of them I've let her look after all of them, better then them being in my house.

Mum and Dad never had all that much leave just a few bits and pieces most of which went to the grandkids I did however get and always wear my mums gold crucifix.

i keep my mums rosary beads in my bag
Some friends of ours were making new wills and told us they had left us something substantial in their wills.
I pointed out that I'd be happier if they left everything to their children.
They then told us that the "something substantial" IS their children.

lol mrs overall
Inherited quite a few bits and bobs, mainly like them for their sentimental reasons. However I have lurking in the wardrobe my late mums collection of Murano glass clowns, they are hideous.
I'm sure some people sit writing their wills and think to themselves... "right, what have we got kicking about that relation X is really going to dislike and is totally opposite to their tastes"
Question Author
mamya are they not worth a lot of money?
I've never inherited anything from a will..... Don't expect to inherit very much in the future either as my family are comfortable (ish) but not well off. Plus, I can't think of anything I want particularly.
Well, I'm getting the crystal, my older brother is getting the Capodimonté, and my younger brother is getting the LaLique glass, we all have shares in the farms anyway, any monies would be shared equally.

My Great grandmother left me a huge trunk you could put to sea in it! It was full of beautiful handmade lace covered nightdresses and stuff - I kept 4 of them, sold the rest to an antique lace collectorand bought my first motorbike with the money.
Kate, some are worth a fair bit, but the weight of them sort of rules out ebay, I may donate them to the hospice shop after finding their value.
My grandma left me a very pretty gold and platinum necklace.I never wear jewellery and have no idea how much it's worth.I am lucky to still have my parents but no one has anything which is worth anything very much I don't think.Every time they go away on holiday I tell them to enjoy spending my inheritance (and I do mean it :) )
My Granny's rocking chair and my Granpa's WW2 medals......my dad's commited to spending everything before he goes, either that or having everything buried with him to prevent my harpie of a sis in law getting her hands on it.
