Trouble with Airconditioning and suspension

I have a 1999 BMW 530 3 litre diesel estate. It has been extremely reliable up to now.
Just recently two events have occurred which may be linked in that I am getting a warning message coming up on the screen that the self adjusting suspension is inactive, but there is nothing wrong with the suspension. At the same time although the AC has been gassed up the flow of air will not come through the air vents at eye level or screen level. I can just feel it coming through slightly at feet level. I have taken the car to two garages (not BMW agents) both of which are unable to find the fault. Anyone out there have any knowledge and suggestions? I know I can take it to a BMW main agent as a last resort but don't think I can afford it!

Surely that has to be the control panel.
Can it be scanned? Try a local guy with a Suin Scanner with BMW module.
They may be able to read it.
not 100% on 5 series but i know on the early 3 series there can problems with the electronic heater control panel whereby they have to be replaced. Not quite sure where the suspension comes into this problem though but with modern electronics anythings possible...
Make sure your pollen filter isn't dirty.
I'd look for a vacuum leak.
