If there is a high-profile trial at the Old Bailey, say, are the jurors selected from the local population, or can anyone be picked no matter where they're from?

You can be picked from no matter where. I was once doing jury service at a court hear the Houses of Parliament, and we were all asked if we were available for a period of five months for a case at the Old Bailey.
