best laptop
Am looking to buy a new laptop and would like some advice as to which is the best make. I had a Toshiba with Vista OS and has been very disappointing. I hadn't had it long before it began running quite slowly and nothing I did seemed to make any difference. Now it has packed up completely and I really did expect it to last more than the three and a bit years I have had it. Or am I being totally unreasonable to expect a piece of kit costing in excess of £300 to last longer than that. I have read that Asus are good laptops but they don't seem to be very common in the local shops. We like to shop at John Lewis because they give a longer guarantee on electrical stuff, but trying to get advice is not easy, it's almost as though they don't want to take any responsibility for recommending a particular make or model. I am not looking for something terribly expensive, and don't want to use it for gaming but I would like it to be fast and reliable and not die so quickly. My husband always had a Sony provided through his job and they seemed to be very good but much more expensive, is it worth paying more for a sony? He's retired now so sadly no more company provided equipment!!

They also do a price match and I got £30 off of mine after a month because they reduced it in store and I noticed and they very kindly refunded the £30 from my original price. Can't fault John Lewis of HP.
