RENEWING EHIC CARDS

Just remembered that our old EHIC (Health) card expired last November. I know you can renew it online but will I have any problems given that it has actually expired and not just to carry on renewing it.

no, I've just done that, after a six-month gap when I forgot about it, and had no problems.

it takes 5 minutes to renew it online, and they send it out within a few days.

Thanks all - I have just renewed it by phone - as recommended by Chris who told me ...................
The system doesn't differentiate between a renewal and issuing a new card. You still have to enter the same details. So it's completely irrelevant as to whether your old card has expired or not. (My own preference would be to phone up. I think that it's much simpler and quicker: 0845 606 2030).Chris...........
Good job Chris told me this info as I fell into the trap of trying to renew online but BEWARE there are different websites who do it but actually charge you £14.99 admin fee(what a cheek!) I filled all the data in on screen but as I got to the end I noticed about the cost (it didn't say when I googled it) so I quickly abandoned it and rang up, spoke with a very helpful lady who asked me all the questions. Will take 7 - 10 working days to arrive and no cost to renew.

Ann make sure you have correct website, as so many have been caught out getting these cards, or renewing. According to Martin Lewis the money expert he said millions have paid out to get one, from these scam sites, and weren't aware they are free.

ah, that must be it, bednobs - I was using a screen with Skype. Now I'm not and it isn't cute any more. Thanks for the info.
