Can I put an electric item in a raffle?
2 Answers
I organise a big raffle in December for the local church, and have been offered a brand new electric coffee maker as a prize. It has never been opened.
However, I also help at a local charity shop, and all electric items donated MUST be PAT (is that right) tested, even if they are brand new.
Can I accept this offer and put in it the raffle?

Just think if anyone had a fire and had recently bought or won one. You would be liable - unless the person was aware of its origins and had accepted this. An unopened item should be fine. Again I would label it as such so everyone knows.
