Enhanced CRB
2 years ago my son had a drunken evening with an ex-girlfriend, they ended up sleeping together and she later accused him of rape. He was taken in for questioning and was held over night. He had a DNA sample taken and they seized his laptop and various personal items. Although the police kept these for some time they returned them untouched and no charges were ever made. He is about to start a new job in finance and has to undergo an enhanced CRB....will this case show up on his records??

Following the enquiry into the Soham murders (which severely criticised the police for failing to include unsubstantiated allegations which had been made against Ian Huntley) the police seem to be including everything possible in such checks.
However enhanced CRB checks should only be available to employers when the employee will be working with, or alongside, children or vulnerable adults (or within the security services or the 'administration of justice'). If your son will be visiting clients within their homes (e.g. as a financial adviser) there MIGHT be a valid reason for carrying out an enhanced check (although that would seem to be far from clear) but if he's only going to be working within an office environment, the employer should not be able to get an enhanced check.

Yes, it is likely that it will show up on an enhanced CRB as they are designed to disclose all. It is very likely that the police will hold the records of the investigation (Despite it being NFA) if your son was arrested and DNA taken then its likely he will be on the arrest data of PNC, that will stay there until he's 100 years old (As per a european court ruling in 2008/2009). Its best he mentions it to his employer, although they will make the final decision and its unlikely to affect the financial decisions he makes during his career with them!!
