Mobile phone "number displayed in outgoing calls"
8 Answers
I've recently bought a HTC Sensation and I can't make up my mind whether to activate the "number displayed in outgoing calls" facility or not.
My daughter tells me that when I ring her, the number comes up as "unknown" on her phone and because she's received a lot of weird calls over the last few months, she does not answer the phone.
I have some work colleagues who I ring and often fail to get through too probably because of the same reason.
Can anyone gve me an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of activating the facility on my phone? Could it be dangerous at all to activate it? What do others do?
Thank you

Try it. Remove the number blocking from your phone. Call your daughter to check that your number (or your name, if she's stored that number on her phone) appears on her phone. Then call again but precede her number with '141'. She'll probably just see 'Call' or 'Unknown number'.
If your phone service provider has the '141' service, simply remember to use it whenever you don't want people to be able to see your number.

Yes, that's it.
141 works with BT landlines, and with Vodafone mobiles. I'm not sure about other operators, which is why I suggested trying it out. (Instead of dialling your daughter's phone, you could test it by calling your home phone and then dialling 1471 - from your landline - to see which number just called you).
