forklift licence

my son got his forklift licence while working for a firm thats just gone bust, the firm paid for the training so held his licence while he worked for them, so that he could not leave and use his licence for another job, but now that they have put him out of work should they let him have (or buy) his licence, or does he have to go all through the training again, or is there something like the DVL that would hold records so he can get a renewal?

Most Fork-lift licences seem to be 'in-house' and non-transferable.

The best that he can do is to tell any prospective employers that he held a licence at his last place of employment and hope that they will pay for him to undergo 'their' training/licence scheme.

He could always get in touch with the training company that would of come to his work place, if he tells them the problem they might release another copy of the certificate.

also thanks haggis, I will tell him that as well, i feel i need to help as he was made redundant overnight, no warning at all, he has a wife and newborn babe so is frantic at the moment, thanks again.

If the training was done by an external training provider it should have been to a recognised standard eg CITB and he should be able to contact them direct for a copy certificate but if it was done in-house it's unlikely another company would accept it anyway.
