I came home from work last night to find a card and bunch of flowers on my doorstep. The card read, " you are absolutely right and i am sorry". Thank you to you all who gave me advice and special thanks to bednobs for drafting me out a letter to post to her. Hopefully this is closure to this story and we can all live in peace now. Did you send her the letter or sort it out another way? i too have been following (and i have to say i was slightly disappointed when you wrote your husband had been round there to do her side as it sounded like she didn't deserve consideration after how she made you feel)

Bednobs, he only re-stained the back of the handrail, it was about 2 inches deep where the handyman had missed so it did not take him long. I re wrote the letter exactly how you typed it so it did the trick. Extra thanks to you and big kisses to all that helped.

like a lot of people, certain myths about some things become 'law/lore' in their mind and they are so convinced they are correct...because everyone else thinks it too and its "common knowledge"... that they dont think to check
