Should these viewers face an increase in their vehicle insurance?

/// One in 20 of those questioned say they have had a near-miss or an accident while rushing home to watch television. ///

/// Shockingly, six per cent said they would break the law by speeding or jumping a red light. A further six per cent were guilty of road rage while trying to make it home in time to catch what judges Len Goodman on Strictly or Gary Barlow on X Factor had to say about their favourite acts. ///

I don't know about others, but I find Saturday's TV programmes among the worst of the week's viewing.

Extremely so! And i agree it's the worst night of the week for TV. I tend to go out to avoid it.
''I don't know about others, but I find Saturday's TV programmes among the worst of the week's viewing.''
Have to agree with you there, mind you the rest of the week isn't up to much imo.
I never have the TV on on a Saturday night.........listen to proper music instead.
Saturday night on the box is rubbish.
Saturday night TV alone makes me glad I don't pay for a TV licence. (It's above board, tv licence people have checked the house and everything :c)
they have tv on a sat night?
If you're going to increase insurance for people who say they rush home for a TV programme, you'd better start doing it for people who drive red cars - they go faster you know.

It's the Express - do you really take it seriously?

Very interesting this, as a side question, 'what would it take to get us all gathering round our TVs' once again?
they just need to be told about ITV+1 or BBC I-player! Dingbats they are!
They would need to bring saturday morning cartoons back for me, thundercats, x-men, cities of gold, bravestar, he-man... that sort of thing. I do like certain programs but they're mainly comedy which I can watch on i-player at my own convenience and not some tv schedulers or cooking progs. I think these days being able to choose when you watch a program rather than have it dictated to you is more important.

Yes maybe, but the programme that you watch at a later date, on i-player etc have to made for the TV schedules in the first place.
I think TV should revolve around your life rather than your life revolve around TV!
I only rush back from training on a Wednesday for Frozen Planet, so I'll be sat on the sofa for an hour stinking the get a shower once it's finished! Nice eh!
nearly a quarter of drivers in britain have been penalised for speeding in the past four years, according to official figures, so its likley that the 6% would probably be speeding anyway without laying reason to tv schedules.

a good advert for esure though, which i presume is the intention of the article.
"Very interesting this, as a side question, 'what would it take to get us all gathering round our TVs' once again? "

The demise of the internet.

Yes but surely one can get TVs these days on which to surf the internet?
The programmes on a Saturday evening are appalling, but popular, I do not understand why anyone would hurry home to watch them.

No. The other 19 may have been rushing for other reasons, but they were still rushing. Late for the hairdressers, perhaps?
why would anyone risk their real life to watch a substitute for real life?
I have always said but when people pour out of work and get in their cars its the worst period of the day to be out driving. I think there must be a correlation of those unhappy in their jobs and the instances of bad driving.

As you say Saturday is a bad day for watching TV and it seems the TV bosses have packed up and gone home for the week-end. Maybe when we get dancing on ice back soon there will be an improvement.
