Can anyone tell me if there is a way of finding if someone has points on their licence (other than asking them), ie if it is something more serious can you track the outcome through any court records?

Most motoring offences are dealt with in the Magistrates’ Court. Whilst the records of those court proceedings are held they are often difficult to access. As a very minimum you would need to know the name of the defendant, the court where the matter was heard and the date of the final hearing. Even with this information you may face some difficulties.
