paying a friends taxi fare all the time...

this is something that happens over and over and its starting to grate on me that she doesnt seem to think its a bit unfair...

my friend has moved further away and every week or two she comes down and we go to our local... which is very near my house... however she gets a taxi down and picks me up on the way past... then when we arrive, expects me to pay half the full fare - which means i have to pay about £7-8 as opposed to the £2 it'd cost from my house.

at first i didnt mind the odd time, but i have stated i'll get my own cab or walk...but she insists on picking me up, as she passes.

i dont expect her to pay when i go to hers.

part of me feels like im being tight, but at the same time it doesnt seem fair for me to be paying almost 4 times the price...

i have suggested she gets the train and ill pick her up from the station to save a £14-16 fare, but she cant be bothered...

any ideas ? i have sometimes said i will be somewhere else at the time and meet her there and she gripes then...

as i said i have done that...but she i cant ALWAYS be somewhere else...and sometimes she says she will collect me from there too... its become sort of just 'what we do'

i also kind of want her to know that its unfair

she is a good old friend, and she is generous in other ways...shes not tight fisted or skint... i just think she doesnt think... she just thinks that splitting the fare is the done thing - because 98% of the time it is.

i have even said in the past that i havent much money today so i cant afford the extra £5 - but she still didnt click...she just said shed pay this time and i can get the next one!
