Information about prison sentencing.

A person who I know was sentenced for being a cannabis courier. Trouble is that he has cut himself off from parents and friends. He is not a hardened criminal and it may be a sense of worthlessness. I know only the time and place of his trial at which he pleaded guilty.

Is there any was of finding out where he is or details of his sentence?

Its not a secret...so if you know the court he will be in, it should be fairly easy to find out

We don't have a Crown Court and it was in the nearest city.

Go to The Law Pages - you can search all sorts there. It's a bit of a faff to use and you have to register to use certain aspects.

Have you tried the local paper? They often have court reporters hanging round the Crown Court.

If he's had a custodial sentence,a good place to start is with the Probation Service local to his trial Dogg. Try the Court Team first.

Can't help friends if you don't know so will follow these leads up.

You could speak to the officer in the case at the Police station, he may be able to help.
There is a Prisoner Location Service but I don't know if it is accessible to people outside the police.

S'ok sd, if you're trying to befriend him or broker a relationship with the guy and his family, I'm sure probation will be glad to hear from you

If you google 'Prisoner Location Service; (sorry i don't know how to put links in) they have instructions as to what to do.
Problem is it depends on the person concerned being willing to let his location be disclosed.
