Non fault claim but no claim was made.
Hi I was with a previous insurer and while I was at a shop a guy lightly scratched my car door with his, being new to insurances etc I rang my insurer and enquired as to wether actually making a claim would affect my no claims or price etc. in the end I thought it to be too much trouble to go through for a small scratch on my door, anyways upon renewal I changed insurers and obviously declared no previous claims on my previous policy I have since been question about a claim I apparently made which corresponds to the enquiry I made and since ringing my previous insurer to ask what it was and why it was their they said they didn't know but it was showing as a claim and down as a none fault claim. Now surely if I didn't make a claim and no money exchanged hand etc it shouldn't really be a recorded claim. I now run the risk of loosing my insurance or a high rise in price for something I knew nothing about or even done. Can anyone help a hand in resolving this matter as I have 14 days to reply to my current insurer with details of it but all my previous insurer sent out was a no claims letter showing a claim made? It's very worrying for me as I need my car and can't afford a rise or loss of insurance.
Sorry if there's is a similar post but I couldn't find it.
Thanks in advance.

It really may depend on the practice with your last insurance company, but unless you told them the claim wasn't happening, IMO, then they may still have it open on their books
