I had a call today from someone saying they could save us 40% on our gas/electricity bill, they new our address and I stupidly gave them my date of birth before I finally put down the phone when they started asking for other details about what kind of card we used to pay of bills. I am worried now in case they can get any other information. Have I anything to be worried about. Thanks.

Name, address, tel # and DOB

Wouldn't have thought they could do too much damage just with that but DOB could be very useful if they also had card details
if you didn't give bank account numbers i wouldn't be too worried!

BUT why not check experion soon to see if fake credit cards or loans have been taken ...
I cant believe anyone would give out personal information to someone who just phones up, after all you have no idea who they are.

In future treat anyone who phones you up to sell you things with suspicion.

NEVER give out personal information out to anyone who phones up, even if they say they are your bank or other "official" organization.
It may not be sensible to provide this information over the telephone but I can understand it being just blurted out. Think of all the people who know your DOB, it is not difficult to establish and I do not think you have any cause for concern.
