I have experienced the unbelievable insurance cheated. When i first brought my car and quote the insurance price online, i found right choice give me the price was £2347.67. When I rang them they said the problm with their online system and the price for me should be £2600. I have told them i only hold the licence for 4 months. Even they requote me through the phone but i have finnally agreed and paid that amount money. Later few days they send me the Proposal Form, I have seen the licence held was 1 year, then I have signed the form and send them back with copies of my driving licence.(Because I believed maybe its their company policy at least write for 1year instead of less than one year. ) After that the is no response from them i thought my policy was settled. However, two days ago i had a call from them and ask me to pay more £841. I asked the reason and they said because i only hold the licence for 4 months but i signed the form for 1 year. I told them its not my fault and the original price which they give to me was based on they already knew its 4 months. I asked them to check the phone record and after few minites they came back said they have replay the record and said I have told them I hold the licence over one year. I knew they were lie to me even they did not check the record. Because I checked my phone bill details and found out when i rang them to buy the insurance it last 20mints. I definetely remember the conversation and what i have said.Through the phone Yestoday they also said if I did not pay the additional premium they will cancel my policy. ( since I have sent them my signed proposal form and copies of my driving licence on 13th April.acctually until now i did not recieved the certification of policy )

That is another unbelievable thing is when i said i may move out, they said i need to pay £1000 more. Its crazy because i move within 2 miles in the same city.

As this is my first time to buy car insurance, could any one please give me some suggestions what should i do now? I know i am within a highly cheated company. Many thanks.

If you do not like what has happened cancel with them and start again. With your situation your premium is going to be high. Different areas can be more or less favorable. They have to go by their guidelines. Don't ever sign anything that you know is untrue. You will not be covered at all that way.
If you are completely sure you gave them the correct information, then make a formal complaint in writing. If it is not successful you have the right to go to an independent adjudicator (there are at least 2 different ones & your insurer should give you the details when they reply to your complaint).

This process is going to take some time, so in your complaint letter ask them to continue with the insurance until the complaint is resolved, unless you are able to get cover elsewhere. Your complaint must be in writing & you need to make sure it goes to the correct department & address - the company must give you this information if you ask for it. Keep a copy of all letters etc. & send by recorded delivery.
Themas, don't you think that as they sent him an incorrect proposal, which he then signed as correct, they would not be at fault.
grasscarp - Yes, I missed that point. However, if the call was recorded & a transcript could be obtained it would show at least some degree of responsibility on the insurer.
