Territorial cat attacking dogs

Now stop laughing, this is no longer funny.

For the third time this week I have had a complaint that my cat has attacked someone's dog. We get a lot of dog walkers round here. Last night apparently he chased an alsation.

What on earth can I do? For his safety and the dogs? I can't keep him in - he is used to freedom. He is 19 and always been a bit feisty (ie if a dog comes near his garden he will take it on), but now he is actively looking for trouble.

Please do not suggest what Mr BM did - he suggested putting up a sign saying "Beware the 19 year old disabled cat with no teeth".
Don't know what to do about that BM, but our cat Daisy also has no problems with taking on a dog. So I will watch this tread with interest.
Tony you've pinched my avatar. Sorry barmaid, I don't know what you can do.
Hows that Traci, sorry BM.
Is he neutered? At his age it might be a bit late to calm him down that way.

At the risk of sounding offensive, has he still got all his marbles?

He's neutered. I do wonder if he is going senile Alba - he forgets why he went out and asks to be let in straight away. And then out, and then in. Although that could be "wrong side of the door syndrome".

He sits outside the front of the house waiting to take on ANY dog that has the temerity to walk past. My OH laughs, but I'm the one who has to deal with the complaints.
It's no wonder you call him Asbo.
Question Author
lol mikmak - that one isn't ASBO!!!!! ASBO is well behaved compared to Arnie (yes, OK, the name is strangely appropriate!)

AH I get it RoboCAT.
Change his name to Sweetkitty ?

Give the vet a phone tomorrow for advice on the poor soul. It's not funny when the dog owners complain to you and you've to handle it on your own.

(Please forgive me, I'm creased at the thought of a furball chasing an alsatian :-) )

pmsl. I shouldn't be laughing. Come on, someone must have a serious tip. I've got a water pistol out so I can give him a squirt, but that will only work if I am here. Sooner or later someone is going to give me a vet's bill. I've already been threatened with the police this week! (OK, so that did make me laugh).
Question Author
Alba, don't make me laugh anymore. It is actually quite serious cos the dogs end up with scratches down their noses. I watch him chasing them up the street, he fluffs himself up, arches his back and jumps sideways in a crab like movement, hissing and hitting out. He doesn't bother with little dogs, he likes big ones.
Great when they fluff their self up, become twice their normal size lol.
Oh bless him! Sorry I have no advice other than as albaqwerty said and give the vet a ring, I don't really see what you can do though. It may be worth putting up a sign of sorts but then, if it's the same as with dogs, if it does attack then you have already admitted liability.
He sounds wonderful though.

Dive girl, the cat can't read.
Just read your last post...send him round to me....he can play with my Danes!
maybe some feliway to calm him down?

Hmmm, that's an idea Pasta. That and some "over dominance" drops in his water. I've got to stop this, apart from anything else when you get some irate dog walker at your door it's quite difficult to keep a straight face when you get threatened with the police.
didnt know the police had cat units ive heard of police dog units.
i think a visit to the vets and get Arnie some happy pills might improve him.
