My son has given my address on a Pay Day Loan
Elder son took out £100 Payday loan from Toothfairy Finance in April. Doesnt live with me and I had no idea. Was meant to pay it bk the nxt week but didnt have work so he called me in a panic and I paid it for him - £118 in total.
I get a letter today to his name but my address, from a debt recovery agency. Said he hasnt paid the £100 back - so they have added £172 interest,£150 legal fees and £200 recovery fees!! I called them and they had no record of my payment. Looked at letter again and date was May. Rang son and he admitted he had taken out yet another loan the following month. Swears he didnt give my address and they must have stored it on system from me paying previous loan.
Q is - is that true or has he given them my address? And will they send bailiffs to my house as I cannot and will not pay this back for him - again.

I also suspect that you have been drained of your self confidence and find it difficult to say no. Do yourself a huge favour Smow; toughen up; go and get yourself some confidence building lessons, get yourself out in the world again, and let your son learn to look after himself and his family. Ok, I've spoken to National debt Helpline - they were brilliant. Have set up password etc for son to call them and they will send him pack with relevant letters etc to send to these loan people, in order to get the interest frozen and make a realistic payment plan. If he doesnt call them then thats up to him but my job is done, not going to even worry about it any more.
Get him to contact the loan company and tell them what has happened , they do have to take action and freeze the intrest if the customer asks for help.
Make sure you cancel the card you used to pay off the last loan, these companys store the details and try to take cash out of your account.
You need to contact the loan company as well and make certain they know that the address used is incorrect. Wonga at least will freeze intrest and take repayments over a few months , I know this for fact as my son got into trouble with them . But they will not just do it you have to contact them and ask for help as does your son. After that it is up to him.
