Neighbour issue

A neighbour of mine works for a utility company and uses a large diesel van. I can often see him getting a large fuel container from the van and using a funnel to top up the small family car that he has.

He's not the sort to have a quiet word with - there would probably be something abusive coming back from him.

So, not right that he's doing this, and don't know whether I should turn a blind eye. However, all these sorts of things add to the cost of our fuel.

Suggestions??

Thanks

how do you know it's not right? How do you know where the fuel comes from in the container?
ps, how exactly does it add to the cost of our fuel?

I thought that vehicles has thingies fitted that stopped you siphoning petrol/diesel out of them. How does it affect your fuel costs?
Plan A: Report him to the company he works for but do not tell him about it.

Plan B: Mind your own business.

Votes for either option will be counted and then you will have to do what we say. If you do not take our advice then what is the point of posting anything?
One of the many fiddles that delivery and other van drivers get away with. Maybe it is up to his employer to have systems installed to pick up this obvious theft. Personally I wouldn't consider such a matter as being any of my business.
don't forget plan C, Get a diesel yourself and talk to him nicely.

Possibly he fills the container (from his own pocket) when refuelling the works van - saves the car having to go to a filling station.

I think I'd want more evidence of wrong-doing before stirring it.

Companies know roughly the mpg of its vans.
If fuel is going missing over time it will be picked up.

Marcia
Id leave that as it is none of my business and not affecting you at all.

Seriously. X
Mind your own business....jeez.
I saw a neighbour doing a similar thing once, after a quiet word I now get my diesel half price
I'd put some nets up if I were you.
Mind your own business-don't we all do things we ought not to do? and anyway You have no proof that he's doing wrong-stop twitching the curtains and enjoy life-its short enough as it is.
First of all there is no way this adds to the cost of fuel . The fuel is being bought somewhere and paid for. Unless of course you mean that he is costing his employer extra by using their diesel in his car and they cover the cost by charging more for gas/electricity.
Then you have no proof that the diesel in the container was paid for by his company. As has been said perhaps he fills the container and pays for it himself while he is at the garage with the van and then transfers the fuel to the family car .
Do you know the address of his company ? if so I would just send them an anonymous note saying what you have seen , give the registration of the van and ask them to check fuel consumption against the mileage .

Yep....grass him up to save a few pence on your bills and then you can sit and moan when he is claiming benefits!

Enjoy you day.
Sorry to be so curt but that really was the first thing that came into my head.

Baldric has cleverly added Plan C to our list; talk to him nicely after getting a diesel vehicle.
