speeding ticket
So a few weeks back I'm on my way home, and there's this speed camera I am aware of it's a 30mph one.
just after the camera it becomes a 40mph zone and I for split second forget that the camera isnt for 40mph but 30mph and find myself doing more than 30mph....
i get a letter in the post saying you've been doing 38mph in this zone, 60 quid fine + 3 points, magistrates court, or 90 quid and a course.
if i take it to court are there any nifty tricks i can say to dispute it to get out of penalty and points>????
I am not a reckless driver it just happened.

There are many on this site who will nasally whine that if you don’t speed you won’t get caught and that straying over the speed limit makes you the bastard offspring of Nosferatu and Polly Toynbee and that you deserve to have red hot pokers shoved up your arse for all eternity unless salvation can be achieved by performing contemporary interpretive dance.
Best of luck

jno, er, yet.
There have been many many times in this past on this site where people have been ridicuously pious about the heinous crime of, gasp, straying over the limit (obviously not being the bastard offspring of Toynbee - even I can't believe anybody would be cruel enough to accuse anybody of that utter horror).

No. If you hire the solicitor known as Mr Loophole, at considerable cost, he might try to argue that the camera wasn't legal or some such but the argument isn't guaranteed to succeed. You hear of his successes, but it's a fair chance that he usually tells clients to plead guilty and go for avoiding disqualification or points unless he can see a clear 'loophole'.
But you've been given a lifeline if you've been offered a speed awareness course. You choose the nearest one that's convenient, do the course, and you don't get any points on your licence; it's as though the speeding never happened.
