I know of a few people with fake facebook accounts. I reported to Facebook, but I'm curious if the police would be interested. These people are in Wales.

>>no all they are is on facebook, posting pictures of this person, and interacting as this person or persons.

The police may be interested if they are using this fake account to try to groom underage children or to try to get a boyfriend/girlfriend in the hope of scamming them, or committing other criminal activities.

But if they are just doing it for...

Unless the facebook accounts are used for criminal activities then why on earth would the police be interested.

A "troll" in computer terms is somebody who uses a fake email account or twitter account or facebook account (or other fake account) to post nasty messages to try to get a reaction or provoke anger, for the "fun" of it.

For example some people set up Facebook pages for a friend or relative who have died to allow people to post "so sad" type messages.

But some trolls go round putting nasty "glad you died" type messages on these Facebook pages just for the sake of it (and because they are sad people).

If these fake Facebook pages are for doing things like that the police MAY be interested, but may not have time to do anything about it.

More likely the Facebook administrators would be intertested, but even then some nasty Facebook pages have appeared which people have complained about but even tney have not shut down.

For example someone set up a Facebook page for peple to post jokes about dead babies, and even though there were protest Facebok did not shut it down (not sure if they have yet)

Quick, call the police, that person has more than one Facebook account.

Well, of course, the police would arrest them immediately. There was, after all, a law passed only last year saying that people could only have one Facebook account. I think it's about 5 years in prison and a £2000 fine if found guilty. And that sentence is doubled if they happen to live in Wales.
I am sure there are many 1000s or 100000s of 'fake' FB accounts . You can set up a FB account in any name you choose. Not even worth reporting it to face book let alone the police.
There is a point in reporting it if they are using that persons photos.
perhaps inform the person who is being impersonated and let him/her decide what they want to do

why are they classed as fake ?

wheres the difference between so called fake accounts on FB and alias email accounts

If theyre not being used for illegal activities than who gives a monkies

@VHG you need to revise your meaning of what online trolls are.

A troll is anybody who posts anything anywhere online be it forums FB Twatter etc etc etc purely to provoke a reaction and take a post off-context and thats how its been since day one online
I have a fake AB account. My name is not really "New Judge" - it's Algernon Ponsonby-Smythe (opps - that's given the game away). Also, I'm not all that new and I'm not really a judge. I do hope the police are not reading this!
I thought the same as VHG, if they are using it for something like grooming or something connected to criminal behaviour then I'm sure the police would be interested.
So are you really called chelsea girl?
Please don't waste the police's time with such nonsense.
If they are using a photo that is available publicly then what?

I have several FB a/c but it's purely for my own to have extra items in some of the games that are on there. You are limited to how many a/c you have simply because you must now provide a mobile number to have one and one number will only do 4 a/c's
I really am a smurf.
