A true story - with a dubious ending
This starts off true. I don't know where the true part of the story stops:
A few years ago, an Australian walked into a patent office to patent his latest invention - a folding bottle. "And I call it a 'fottle'," he said.
"An odd name, but OK," answered the patent clerk. "Any more inventions?"
"Well I have a folding carton, I call a 'farton'," said the inventor.
"I'm not sure whether we can allow that name," said the clerk.
"In which case you won't like the folding bucket I invented!"
