If you have just vanished from sight for a length of time without anyone knowing what is going on or what your future plans may be, it might explain why you have been served with notice to quit.
There are long waiting lists (several years ) to get an allotment so those that look like they are not being used are reallocated. You need to contact the council and explain why you can't maintain it at the moment, they may give you more time to sort it out.
