Criminal law in Poland

Can anyone tell me the statute of limitations in Poland for an assault and battery charge? My friend was sentenced to 2 years for this crime 13 years ago, he absconded to the U.K. and then Ireland where he is now married with two children but is always worried about his past. Could he still be made to do this prison term if he went back to Poland?

Surely a Statute of Limitations does not apply in this case as he had already been found guilty of the crime.

I have no idea Daffy654. Maybe you are correct, do you think because he left Poland after the sentencing as against prior to the court case he is still in trouble? I can see it makes sense but is there a way of finding out if he would still be obliged to do his prison term under the circumstances.

He would almost certainly be facing a new charge - of evading the prison sentence. If there is no statue of limitations for evading his prison sentence, and I suspect there isn't - he might well end up with 2 sentences.
I really don't think it would be wise for him to go to Poland again. He is bound to be on some official lists, andthen he'd have to travel on a forged passport.
