After purchasing something from a shop with a large sum of cash which was counted in front of me the seller has got back to me after 3 days and said I under-payed by roughly 4% (3 figure sterling).

I have checked on my end and I am 100% certain I gave him the right amount as I went in with a certain amount and came out with a certain amount which tallies with the change that should have been given.

He says on the CCTV it shows me under paying by the 4%...so before I go and view this video........

Should I be afraid of not being let out of the shop until I pay this amount, or can I walk out knowing i'm 100% correct and the mistake has been made on his end?

IMO if you do not go with the means to pay then abducting you would be pointless. In any case why go ? If they have a case they will chase it through the courts and prove it, if not then they are bluffing anyway. No expert, but does CCTV show with such clarity it can allow someone to count the notes that were passed over ?
If he let you leave the shop with the goods, and I assume gave a receipt, then at that time he must have thought you had paid the right amount (it is up to him to check as the seller).

If he now says you did not then let him take you to court and put it in front of a judge of some sort (small claims court?).

You are under no obligation to go back to the shop (he may get "nasty")
just a thought but if they had short changed you, and you returned 3 days later to ask for the correct change, would they give it to you??
as I see it, you paid, the money was counted, change given, you walked out with the product, let him take you to court.
Did you get a receipt from the shop for the correct amount? If so, then tough - they signed for the cash. Who's to say that someone's not lifted the cash from his till, and it's nothing to do with you.
I dont think he has a leg to stand on. What sort of shop is this? As Mandy says, he wouldnt give you the money back if it were the other way round.
I would think, he was quite happy to let you walk out with the goods and therefore he has no recourse. Tell him to get lost.
he is trying it on ... he counted it in front of you, he accepted what you gave him as payment for the goods.

ignore, him and do not go to view the footage.

tell him he can send you a copy if he likes but that you will not be returning - i agree that he may get nasty.
also i doubt many cctv can be that clear - but if it is - it will also show him, counting and accepting the money, and giving you a receipt...

tell him to try court - i doubt he will
many shops have a sign - please check your change before you leave as mistakes cannot be rectified later ... just say the same thing to him.

I have a signed receipt, however he hasn't ticked the appropriate box for method of payment (cash, cheque, card etc.), but the reciept is signed, indicating the correct amount paid and dated.

The business is a jewelry business a stones-throw away from Selfridges.

Thanks for all your help people, I can finally go to sleep.
CCTV info:
I few months ago I had a disagreement with the corner shop over whether I had paid with a £5 note or a £10. The manager let me see the CCTV footage and it was so clear that you could easily make out the note was a £5 (I felt so stupid!!)
The shop had a very good CCTV system with downward facing cameras at each till.

I think VHG and joko have it, do not return to the shop. Write to them and say you have checked your cash and the amount is correct, you will not be returning, the payment was agreed before you left their premises and you have the receipt. All further communication must be in writing and if they believe their claim is justified their remedy is to make a county court claim.
You may never hear any more and you can certainly sleep well.
