Hi my partner has a decree of nulity of marrage issued by the Catholic church is this sufficient when registering intent to marry or does it have to be civily recognised? If so how?

Is she legally divorced? IN the UK I don't think an RC declaration of nullity of marriage means diddly squat legally. Either that or she had nuptial mass but no civil registration and was never legally married?

No she has never been legally divorced. I'm hoping that as the marragae ended after 1 month 18 years ago, we can go to a solicitor and get an affivdavid by a notary to say that the marrage no longer exsists and that will be enough for the registrar! what do you think?

I accessed a good site but then found it was Oz - durrr !
then I found an Irish site and that had separation of powers as well.
then I went to bed

but I think she may still be married [in law]

the good news is that once this is over she can have a nice new marriage in a RC church !

I agree with PP. The local register office should know and its worth asking but my bet will be that she needs to get legally divorced.
