Both me and hubby love going to charity shops and car boots -I've found some really good items at fractions of the retail price plus 'retro' stuff from car boot sales for next to nothing which I've then sold on EBay for a profit.
Love car boot sales but not so keen on the charity shops. There's a HUGE car boot sale on Anglesey, which is great in the nice weather. Usual boot stalls plus lots of really good plant stalls - much cheaper than garden centre. Fruit and veg, fresh lobsters, sweets, cakes and biscuits.

yes i've had some good buys designer clothes for a couple of pounds my latest been a top by david emanuelle unfortunately the lable is on the inside lol perhaps i should wear it inside out
I had never been to one up until recently, when my daughter dragged me along. Quite mind boggling what tat people sell, not sure I will get the bug for it though, but I can undersand the thinking behind it of making a bit of cash.
Never been to one..EVER......
Why would one want to buy a car boot?

sqad once you find a bargain your hooked
The early time you have to be there puts me off going.
mallyh, I did have a look, but was nearly trampled to death by a flock of eastern european women with hoads of kids shoving me out of the way lol lol.
Love both but the Boot Sale near us is SO big it's exhausting to get round and you could spend a fortune buying things you probably don't need!
A lot of people buy to re-sell on eBay of course.
I have been to precisely 2 in my life - Once to sell off some of my vast library ( seriously, a collection of around 1500 textbooks, non-fiction, lots of sci-fi and crime fiction etc) - So i selected a fair number to sell, managed to sell a fair few and made around £200 for a morning sitting about selling stuff :)

Only other time was in France and the girl I was with ws dying to check out antiques- I think we ended up with some ratty looking lampshade that she was convinced was Lalique - only it wasn't :)
i agree chrissa, why cant car boot sales start later in the day im not a morning person :(
We regularly stand at car boots (I do the local markets as well) with the stuff we've bought at auctions which isn't good enough for the Antique Fairs that we also do. Gives the good lady a chance to rummage round for further stuff for the Ant Fairs. We love it - and the extra income.

i normally go about 9oclock cant stand the initial mad rush
I'd love to have a wander round the car boots if I could leave the house early enough. I am not an early riser, really wish i was though.
Yep anne. A cup of tea in bed with the papers. :)
I help run a charity shop and you have to steel youself to say no to some of the bargains or your house would be overflowing. Saying that,I did buy a brand new pair of floral jeans for £3.50 this morning. (Talk about mutton dressed as lamb)
