Uk Knife Laws Regarding Balisongs
I've always been interested in collecting knives as a hobby and have since gotten into balisongs. I'd like to order one from China and have it shipped to me here in the UK. Is this legal for me to do, providing I keep it in the house at all times?

for chrissakes - I have looked at the photo -
and it is obviously a knife .....
Carrying one in public is in itself a crime - which seems a bit strict - I think you might be an immigrant (no one uses gotten in the UK) and havent really taken on board how little the Brits go around armed with anything.

The official guidance given to HMRC staff reads as follows:
"The Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) Orders 1988,
2002 and 2004 prohibit the possession and importation of:
. . . .
the weapon sometimes known as a “balisong” or
“butterfly knife”, being a blade enclosed by a handle
which is designed to split down the middle, without the
operation of a spring or other mechanical means, to
reveal the blade".
