Hi,

My girlfiend have been charged with ABH, after we had an argument at home. We are two years together and never had any previous violence or serious arguments in our live. but that night we both drunk a lot, and I become gealous because she paid more attention to people who were with us (it was our neighbours 25th birthday). I was threatineng her that I gonna leave her, called her names, abused her mentaly. I was trying to find my passport in her stuff and start to make a mess in the room, she tried to stop me, then i pushed her on the bed and spilled a little amount of coke in her face. After that I was leaving the room and she took a bottle of parfume and threw it in to we wall next to me. Unfortunetely, it bounced from the wall to my head, and I received a 2inch cut. We called we ambulance, not the police, but I dont know why police arrived. She've been in custody for two days, I didnt placed any charges on her, said exactly the same story which I gave you here, and still they send her to the crown court, they gave her conditional bail tik March now, so she cannot contact me, neither live with me. I'm becoming mental, I'm drinking pills just to calm my self down, because I didnt see her for a month already. Is it possible that she goes to prison? she pledged not guilty, because it was obvious that she was mentaly pissed of and drunk as well. I would rather go to prison by my self then putting her in this trouble. Justice in this country is ruining live for people not helping them.

Sorry for grammar mistakes, I'm not english and to be honest don't have nerves and time to fix it.

thank you for your help

Has she got any previous convictions?

>>>but that night we both drunk a lot

How did I know this phrase was going to appear in the question.

As soon as I read the first line I knew drink had to be involved.
yes, it's possible she'll go to prison
But ...unlikely ..!

Question Author
why my statement doesnt sound like self defence. why because of one stupid, recless accident we have to suffer that much. if i would go and tell that i was holding her or tried to punch her would it help? nobody wants to help me in this case. can anyone recommend a good solicitor who could help me and her
Jeff, and anonymous website like AB can't be of any help in recommending a solicitor for you. You need to contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau in the morning and take matters from there.
You might also go to the police station and explain how this was your responsibility and face up to whatever consequences this has.
You could also distance yourself from illegal drugs in future.
Go out on Monday and find a solicitor, there are solicitors in every town.
Most of them will give you 1/2 an hour of advice free or for a small charge.
Tell the solicitor what has happened, they will be able to give you advice.
If you can't find a solicitor then put the word 'solicitor' and the name of your town into Google and a list of them will come up.
Why is this going to Crown Court? The obvious answer is that she herself asked for her case to be sent there, for trial by jury. It's only a minor abh, so I can't see that the prosecution would ever want it tried there. And you say she has no previous; it may be that she, pleading not guilty, thought, or was advised, that her prospects of an acquittal are better with a jury than with magistrates trying the case.

Can't see how, on the facts you give and she having no previous, she is it at any risk of going to prison
