I am going to court next month for being convinced for attempted robbery. I am thinking about applying for a few jobs. Do I have to put my unspent convinctions now, or after the court? Are they now in the system?, if the company would do a CRB check? Also what are the consequences of lying on the application job with the criminal record, I am bit worried that no one will employ because of the unspend criminal record.

Once again, why aren't you discussing this with your solicitor / lawyer? Also, I'm curious as to what you imagine your unspent convictions have to do with your upcoming court case.

have you actually been tried for the attempted robbery yet? Are you waiting for trial or sentence?

At the moment, if employers want to know about convictions, and you haven't been convicted of this one yet, you don't have to tell them; but you'd be unwise not to, all the same.

Not all that many jobs require CRB checks (they're now called DBS checks). Here are some guidelines

I know a guy who lied on an application form about his criminal conviction for fraud. He got the job but left after a week, so he thought no more about the falsehood until when, two years later, the police came knocking on his door. He was convicted of a further count of fraud (because of not declaring his conviction) and sentenced to two years in prison. Don't do it!

You sound like some of the xfactor winners they too have had some criminal records over the years come to think of it quite a lot of others too

If that is the case, Mike, you should declare your most recent offence (along with any other unspent convictions you may have) if applying for jobs. As you may know the period for which you have to declare this latest conviction depends on the sentence you receive.

In that case I will have to declare my convictions when looking for a job. I have been convinced in ABH and attempt of robbery, however my sentence hearing next month is only for the attempt of robbery as the prosecutor said so, they're not doing the ABH. In that case, in future will be there the also the ABH convinction?

Will it be hard for me to find a part-time job with the "unspent" criminal record, I mean job in like supermartet. Also I convinced the crime when I was 17 I am currently 18, does it become spent when I am becoming an adult? I mean attempt robbery is quite serious crime, and employers don't want to employ thefts, will this affect my future, even if the convinction will become "spent" ? I am quite worried now.

jno - I have not been tried for the attempted robbery yet, so if I would like to submit some job application now, before the trial, do I have to put the unspent convinction now, if I didn't been tried yet? I am not looking for a job with childrens or banking which all require the DBS check. My solicitor told me that I will get a suspended sentence, so I think it is good idea to look for job at the moment.

I would wait until after the sentence, not all of us on here are as optimistic as your lawyer. I think you are in for a spot of 'porridge'

Thanks for your advice EDDIE51. I have a probation officer seeing me soon. I have found this on the internet "Probation officers work with adult offenders, supervising those who are serving non-custodial sentences as well those released from prison on licence."

Does this mean that it is likely I will get of with non-custodial sentence?

It says here that prison sentence (including suspended sentences)
6 months to 2.5 years will be under the rehabilitation period in 5 year time when convincted under 18.

So is there a maximum suspended sentence?, for example can the Judge give me 2 years prison sentence suspended for 5 years, so does the 2 years count or the 5 years which I am suspended for? Thanks

Yes, as your link says the rehabilitation period is 5 years , it does not matter if the sentence is suspended or not.
