there is a specific form to complete. you have to fill in details of the mileage you received from your employer. then use the number of miles you drove multiplied by 45p to work out how much you can claim. then you have to deduct what you already received from the amount claimable. this was done for the tax year 2013 to 2014. usually when making a claim for the tax year we are in, you would wait until the end of that year, i.e. until april 2015 to make the claim. normally you would not know how much to claim until then. in this case, the claim for mileage is ended as that job is finished. the new job does not pay mileage. it seems unreasonable to have to wait until 2015 to claim money that you are entitled to but wasnt sure if it is allowed to make this type of claim at the beginning of the tax year
