If a road has a permanent speed camera on it where the limit is say 50MPH, but due to roadworks for instance has a temporary speed limit of say 40MPH, does the permanent speed camera get reset to 40Mph? I always go with the temp limit, in the interest of the safety of those working on the road, but it's a question that cropped up when chatting to a friend. I presume the cameras can be controlled/reset remotely from a central point, so it would seem logical to recalibrate the camera to the temp limit but my friend thinks it would be triggered at the road's normal speed limit, and not the temp one.

The camera will be reset to the temp limit. It happened near me ,tempory limit of 30mph on a dual carriage way due to road works . The cameras were all reset to 30 and getting dozens of people caught speeding.

I suggest your friend tests the local ones.
