On Sat,as i was parking my car in a space at the supermarket, A child in the car on my right, opened the door causing me to get too close to the car on my left, leaving a slight scrape on the side. ( I have ben driving 50 yrs and have never been involved in any accidents caused by myself , and have never claimed on my insurance)
As this procedure is completely alien to me I did leave a note on the damaged car, as did the owner left one for me when he returned to his vehicle. Am I within my rights to ask him to provide two quotes for the work needed to be done on his car ?? I must add that he is a solicitor, and as he knows the law, I would not like him to "blind me with science" Any replies very much appreciated.Thank you

Your child in your car or someone else's child in a car to the right of you opening doors ?

Someone else's child, in the car to my right, if you would like to look on the Chatterbank site I have explained fully on there, also reported a very satisfactory outcome. thank you Old Geezer. Best Wishes
Ah, it's just that if someone else's child caused the issue then 'd have thought you should be giving the other driver quotes for so they can pay for repairing the damage to your car caused by their child.
No OG, he hit a parked car, he is never going to win that one!

"He" is a "she", sorry for confusion.......... Read outcome on the chatterback site , most satisfactory Many thanks.
It may have been parked but it moved (the door) which was what caused the accident. Otherwise one could just get money by doing that sort of thing deliberately. If the law allows this then IMO it is in error.
Ah on re-reading I see the open door car was the other side to the damaged car. Apologies.
