How did you feel except the obvious anger and sadness and what was the worst most part?

The
Guilt that you never secured the place better?

The fact that a stranger was in your home and seen or personal belongs?

The fear that they may come back?

Did you want to move home because of this?

Yes we did move home. How did I feel.......if I had caught him / her / them I'd have killed them.
Yes...

No guilt.

The fact a stranger was not only in my home, he was in my home and our bedrooms while me and the children slept.

No fear of him coming back.

No, I didn't want to move house.
Yes we were burgled some years ago.

A feeling of invasion of privacy was certainly there - but worse was the fact that we were away on holiday at the time and our middle daughter, who was a teenager then, was staying at the house alone, and was very upset by the incident.

We were assured that they would come back - and indeed they did, and were disturbed by a neighbour who was watching out. He caught them trying to force a window, and they had the brass face to say that they were my wife's nephew and friend, and had lost keys to get in. Our neighbour knew that my wife had no nephews, and when he challenged the youths, they ran for it.

I didn't want to move, I refuse to be forced to do anything through fear.
I was burgled by a neighbours

Did I move?

No...they did!
the...not a

Son was in my house the mother waiting at fence for the loot.
Did you get it back?
Twice. First time didn't know I had been burgled and thought husband must have taken faulty video recorder to be mended! A young man had take it and a diamond ring.
Second time - different house - last month - everything pulled out of cupboards etc and back door smashed in but nothing taken!!!!
I do not (and did not) feel any anger, sadness, guilt or fear and no I don't want to move home. It has made me start getting rid of stuff as a lot of it is not needed.

That's understandble tony.

Umm that is scary. How did he get in without waking anyone?

I'm thinking of buying that machine that senses movement outside then doorand starts barking as a deterrent and putting some "danderous dog stickers on then windows outside along with cameras which alert you with pictures when movement is detected
A bit excessive Broseph, where do you live Mosul?
He got in through the kitchen window. It had old fashioned locks. He moved the kids garden slide to get to it.

The police said that most people think they will wake up, but they don't. He went round the rooms with a candle. This was just after xmas so a few of the kids xmas presents were stolen.

He got 4.5 years...
When I came home from school when I was a kid, mother and father at work, there was the gas & electric meter from the cellar on the floor broken into, human poo on the carpet, and I saw a pair of legs jumping out of the open window.

That was 60 years ago, and I can still remember this as though it was yesterday

I'm sorry to her that, what an evil horrible cretin. How did they catch him?

4 years is not enough, 20 years would't have been better.

Isf this was the states that would have been 400 years
I assume they caught him in the act. He was a drug addict. I think he'd burgled about 26 houses before being caught.
We moved house because at that time I worked permanent nights ( although both burglaries occurred on a Friday afternoon) were we lived we had no neighbours for about half a mile either side and two young children a three year old and a one year old, what if they came back while I was at work !.
Yes a few years ago, just after the fire brigade had explained that the best way of getting out of the house, in case of fire and if all doors were locked, was to smash a hole in the patio doors! That is exactly what they did. Emptied out a bag which was by the front door with my son's football kit in and filled it with the 'swag'. Not a nice experience, and yes I was angry but never thought about moving just improved our security and installed a burglar alarm.
Not at all excessive talbot, don't you read the news?

I bought 6 of the below about six months ago, 2 for me and 2 for each for my daughters.

They are brilliant and very loud, if somebody bangs the door or glass.
I have 24 hour recording with motion sensor cameras with cloud upload. You can't stop them breaking in but you can get them on candid camera. I prefer to take these measures before I'm burgled rather than after. Sadly Burglary is not really treated as a crime these days.
We were done over in February this year, coincidentally on the day I started back to work after being off on long term sick leave. They ransacked the place, took all my jewellery including my late grandmother's wedding ring bought in 1916. Late ma in laws wedding and engagement rings were taken along with about £500 worth of dress jewellery. Also took laptop and ipad, passports and driving licences. Most of the stuff is replaceable but it's the inconvenience of it all. We were due to go on holiday three weeks after the event and had to go to Liverpool to get new fast tracked passports, and still haven't received new driving licences yet.
More than two months later we are still remembering things which have gone but we haven't claimed for as the insurance company are being a pain in the bum when we ring them to tell them.
I was extremely angry and upset more for the irreplaceable stuff than anything else, but we haven't considered moving because of it.
