Revoked means you are regarded as not having a licence, disqualified means you are still registered as having a licence but can not drive until the disqualification ends.
Revoked normally means you have to reapply for a licence and take the test again.

The usual reason a licence is revoked is when a 'new driver' gets 6 points in their first 2 years

Methyl, for a 'new driver' ( someone who has passed the test up to 2 years ago) revocation of the licence is automatic if they get 6 points.
They have to wait 6 months before they can reapply for a provisional licence and then have to repass both the theory and practical driving test.
It sets them back to the beginning as though they had never had a licence. In that way it is different to disqualification. All explained in the link.
