Yes, any fresh food in a lorry found to have had illegal passengers in it has to be destroyed. Would you eat food carried in a lorry where people had been living,eating, sleeping and using it as a toilet?
S'pose they could always give it away if they're too nesh to wash it - give it to the poor , the homeless, asylum seekers.....

And yet, plenty of displaced people end up being exploited to plant and harvest our tasty ready-to-eat salad crops all over Europe. Many aren't provided with washing facilities. Discuss.
I suppose your fresh produce could be contaminated by non-displaced, unexploited pickers. Chances are pretty slim.
If this stuff has shared a few hours with our new 'enrichers', it almost certainly is contaminated. Good idea, though, to feed it to fellow detainees.
If there is a genuine concern, put it on the compost heap where it'll do some good later.
Mosaic -your 'ready to eat' salad crops may have been planted and harvested by the great unwashed -but the crops have been washed in a mild hydrogen peroxide solution to be marketed as 'ready to eat' -all sanitized so nothing to worry about.
Waste food will probably be sent to a 'biodigester' to be turned into electricity
This is not a new story, it's been around for a few weeks. Of course they have to bin stuff if people have been in the truck. Stuff is also going off on the other side of the Channel if it's being delayed in transit. I think i posted on a thread about this a couple of weeks back, when the papers were warning that fruit and veg import prices would go up.
