Although i have had my gas supply disconnected (voluntarily), my landlords still want to do a gas safety check. Is it sufficient for me to show that the supply has been capped off, or is there any additional check required for the disconnected boiler?

If you have informed the landlord that the outside meter is removed and the gas supply termination cap is visible from the outside so no entry is needed, and he or she still wants to enter, There is possibly a different motive. I would imagine he wants to ensure that it is safe, just in case you have the gas reconnected without his knowledge, because then if something went wrong and the safety certificate is out of date he could be in a very difficult situation.
If there's a pipe containing gas entering your flat whether it's capped or not it will still need a check

The pipe doesnt actually come inside the flat, the meter was on the outside, & the cap is visible in the otherwise empty box. I have also been informed that if the supply were to be reconnected, those doing it would carry out a check before doing so. If there is no gas actually reaching the boiler right now, what if anything would it still be necessary or indeed possible to check?
Capped off where? Or have you just turned it off?

I would ensure that I had a reliable witness or companion during the visit if I was in your position. I would also insist on a mutually agreed time and date for the inspection.

The pipe leading to the gas main is capped off, & this was done by a British gas engineer when he removed the meter.
