Paraphimosis In Dogs - Blimey!

Hi All, Hope you are having a good weekend.
I wonder if you could help to advise?
My Labrador x Harrier Hound has just experienced a bout of Paraphimosis (where the penis will not retract back in after a period of eherm, excitement) and it was quite a shocking experience!
He has been neutered, but took a fancy to one of his soft toys. I walked into the room to see him frantically licking down there and what appeared to be half his guts sticking out, and they wouldn't go back in - I am talking about 8 inches of penis and what appeared to be 'false' balls at the end close to his stomach - seriously, In all the years I have been around dogs, I have never seen this happen before.
I talked to him calmly and waited for about 10 minutes, and they still weren't retracting.
The vets was closed when I rang them, and upon returning back upstairs (about 15 minutes in) they had started to go back in.
He is right as rain now.
My question is this: Is he more likely to have this problem again now that it has happened? Apparently if they don't retract within 20 minutes it becomes an emergency, so should I be worried that it might happen again whilst I am not there for an hour or so? Has anyone seen this before that might be able to provide some practical help?

I seem to recall that the dog I had for my 11th birthday seemed to be in almost permanent state of arousal but everything went back where it belonged eventually!

When my older dog got it, the vet said it might be a symptom of prostate trouble. Its much more common in entire dogs (as mine was) but it might be worth ruling out

No, I wouldn't have thought so.

As it resolved itself with the help of a bit of "licking".....I shouldn't worry.
