I know of 2 gay couples (males) that have been married and are now divorced. The actual divorce is the same as a mixed sex marriage. The financial settlement is also the same as a mixed sex marriage. In both of these relationships one half was more successful financially than the other and had to pay out to the other one.
the first civil partnership ( two fellas with two labradors - bg photo opportunity in Brighton) has been'dissolved'
altho civil partnership was based on the legal side of the Marriage act 1752 - you didnt get divorced you had the partnership dissolved
and you couldnt get a dissolution on non-consummation
and there was another difference but I cant remember what
same sex marriage - o blimey I am sure someone has got divorced .....
hiflier, apologies for going off topic on your thread - as sure as night follows day there will always be some marriages that end in divorce regardless of which sex the partners are.
CP - oh and you cant get an annulment on that odd reason of not really wanting to get married in the first place - the one that Ethel Kennedy used to get shot of Sr Kennedy ( and not before time ) - giving vows under false pretences or whatever it is called
this sort of thing doesnt really keep me awake at night
There definitely have been divorces between same sex couples including several celebrities who have divorced their husbands/wives. If you are curious you can search for them. LGBT people are just as likely to end a relationship that's not working as any straight couple.
