At what age does Child Maintenance stop? Is it when they have completed A Levels and have left school? Thank you

Child maintenance payments usually stop when the child reaches 16 (or 20 if they’re in full-time education not higher than A-level or equivalent).

Thanks woofgang. Just checked the link. What full time education is there after A levels if they are not going to University? Would that be the equivalent of doing an extended 6th form college course where it last 3 years for example?

Yes, gg- full-time college courses and apprenticeships after 18.

I paid maintenance for my child until she has finished university. When she left college after 'A' levels (in the July) and she was already 18 I then started to pay the maintenance payments direct to her as she was then living away from home. The clause was in the financial settlement to support her until the end of her education.

Normal agreement is until the child finished full time non advance education - which covers A levels, NVQ's etc but not apprentices as they tend to get paid for these.
