Youtube And Changing Linked Email Account

Hi all

I have a question about the email account linked to YouTube and whether it is possible to change this over. First I shall explain what I am trying to do.

I have two hotmail accounts, let's call them [email protected] and [email protected]. I am looking to close down the aaa hotmail account eventually, but it has an associated Youtube channel, where I wish the content to remain.

Both hotmail accounts also have their own associatedYouTube channel. So let's say youtube.com/aaa and youtube.com/bbb.

What I am trying to do is close down my [email protected] account but then leave the aaa youtube account up and link up my [email protected] to the aaa youtube account.

I followed the step by guide on Youtube where it lets you change your email, so I logged into the aaa Youtube account, tried to change the primary email to [email protected], but it wouldn't let me because bbb already has its own youtube channel!

I don't particularly want to create another new email account just to be able to change the email, as the purpose of this was to get rid of an email account I no longer need.

Please can anyone advise if there is a way to achieve this. Thanks!

I am not 100% sure but I am of the opinion that one cannot easily close down an active email account, just stop using it & it will eventually cease to exist.

Sorry that was not what i was asking. I was asking about linking an email to youtube

I would say there's nothing you can do about it as I have the same issue with Facebook - my new email is blacklisted by them for some reason and all attempts to sort it with them have been ignored so I have to use my old one.

Just don't forget your password or make sure you set up a secondary security method such a mobile phone number.

You can do that. It is easy via google+:

1. create a google+ account for the address you want to associate with the channel
2. Make that account an admin of the channel
3. After a while you will be allowed to make this account the primary address
4. You can remove other email addresses
