I recently signed a contract for a rented accomodation but shortly after realised there was no mention of a deposit and to date no deposit or rent upfront (like a month in advance or anything) hasn't been mentioned by the landlord or verbally discussed or agreed.

If this doesn't get mentioned, as in perhaps the landlord forgot! do I have a right to refuse to pay a bond or a months in advance if this isn't in the contract?

have you got the contract and have you read it ?
most pro formas have those bits already in

yes you have in my opinion the right to refuse to give a deposit as that is not in the contract
I am unsure what the law deems about rent
I would pay July's rent on 1st July - making it clear this is good will

after all you have saved a lot of money on this contract.

has be given you an energy assessment
and looked at your passport ?

these are all new requirements for leases that he should have done
