Carpet Fitter Not In Contact When Work Needs Fixing
Hi,
I had a new carpet fitted and it looked good when finished so he was all paid.
However a couple of months down the line and it transpires the treader he put in between the sitting room and the hall was too small and the carpet came away and started to fray.
He came back and stretched it back into place and said he would return with a larger treader.
Even after trying to get him back to finish he hasn't. I even spoke to him about it and he promised to get back to me but hasn't.
Now the carpet is getting much worsen it is out of the treader again and a snag has pulled down the middle of the carpet. Which is very noticeable and it may be that the whole carpet will need replacing.
He is a trader that has no business premises and works from his van at the markets. Although I haven't seen him for some time at the market he had been there for over ten years so at the time he did not seem a flyby night sort of bloke.
When I search his web page it isn't found nor is his FB page, although I found his personal FB page.
Eventually.. my question/s 1. How much longer should I try to get him to return. It has been over four months now.
2. If he doesn't What do I do next?
Thank you

If he's been trading for that amount of time I doubt he's a cowboy but you never know .
Why not ask around at the market if anyone knows what's happened to him .
If he does turn out to be dodgy then as others say report it to Trading Standards ,get a reputable carpet fitter to repair the damage then pursue him for the costs if you feel it's worth it.

Unfortunately I couldn't do ANYTHING cos mine was a traveller. It was unbelievable the way it happened but at the time I was in the middle of a raging vertigo attack that lasted for 4 days and in that time he took advantage of my vulnerability. My neighbour (a builder) when he found out went mad. Can't talk about it hardly.
